Fitters employ tools, machinery, equipment, and engineering methods to uphold and repair mechanical plants and equipment to meet operational standards.

Their duties include:

  • Identifying worn or faulty mechanical components and equipment.
  • Repairing worn or faulty mechanical components and equipment.
  • Replacing worn or faulty mechanical components and equipment.
  • Conducting modifications as needed.

Fitters may also:

  • perform machining operations.
  • maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and their components.
  • perform welding operations.
