Skill Requirement

Most of the jobs in this unit group requires at least a bachelor’s degree. At least five years of experience in the field and/or vendor certification can be replaced by a formal qualification. In some cases, a formal qualification may not be enough. Experience and/or training on the job may be needed (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).

What do a Software Application and Programmer do?

Software Application Programmers plan, design, test, maintain and keep track of software code to make sure it meets user expectations, framework requirements, and technical standards.

Task

  1. Finding out what a system program needs by doing research, consulting, measuring, and evaluating.

 

  1. Finding technology’s flaws and weaknesses in current systems and related tools, methods, and techniques



  1. Testing, debugging, diagnosing, and fixing errors and faults in an application programming language using set evaluation procedures, requirements, and consistency requirements to make sure that programs and applications meet the specifications.

 

  1. Writing and updating software code to meet system criteria, system architecture, and technical specifications in line with consistent accredited standards

 

  1. Write, change, and manage the technical program, documentation for end users, and operational procedures

 

  1. Give suggestions, feedback, and experience on designing ideas and plans for program design operations, such as financial estimates and costings for recommending software purchases and upgrades.

English Requirement

  1. IELTS score of minimum 6  (L, R, W), 7 in speaking and 7 overall;
  2. OET score with a minimum grade B in all sections;
  3. TOEFL iBT with a minimum score (L:12, R:13, W:21, S:23 and overall L93);
  4. PTE Academic with a minimum score of 50 (L, R, W), 65 in speaking and 65 overall.

Exceptions

  • In some states and territories, there are exceptions for Australian graduates.
  • In certain states/territories, Priority Skilled Lists may apply a particular requirement.
  • The United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, and Ireland shall be excluded from submitting IELTS or OET scores.
