Occupation description
Mobile plant mechanics maintain, test, and repair the mechanical components of mobile plant machinery, including drill rigs, loaders, excavators, graders, haul trucks, cranes, and compactors, as well as diesel engines.
Their job involves:
- Identifying and fixing mechanical and electrical problems identifying and fixing mechanical and electrical issues.
- Inspecting parts and disassembling and removing steering mechanisms, engine assemblies, transmissions, and other components.
- Reassemble mechanical parts, replace worn-out or damaged parts, and consult service manuals as needed.
