General Electricians set up, check, link, start, look after, and adjust electrical gear, wires, and control systems.
Their job involves:
- Determine electrical wiring needs in buildings using blueprints, diagrams, codes, and specifications.
- Measure and mark installation reference points.
- Select, cut, connect, and install wires and cables to terminals and connectors.
- Use electrical test instruments to diagnose faults and trace issues.
- Repair or replace faulty wiring and parts.
- Position and install single and three-phase electrical switchboards.
- Connect electrical systems to power supply.
- Test circuit continuity.
- Install, test, and adjust electric and mechanical parts of lifts.
