Occupation description

General Electricians set up, check, link, start, look after, and adjust electrical gear, wires, and control systems.

Their job involves:

  • Determine electrical wiring needs in buildings using blueprints, diagrams, codes, and specifications.
  • Measure and mark installation reference points.
  • Select, cut, connect, and install wires and cables to terminals and connectors.
  • Use electrical test instruments to diagnose faults and trace issues.
  • Repair or replace faulty wiring and parts.
  • Position and install single and three-phase electrical switchboards.
  • Connect electrical systems to power supply.
  • Test circuit continuity.
  • Install, test, and adjust electric and mechanical parts of lifts.
  • Install, test, and commission solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems.

    Stage 2
