Skill Requirement

Most of the jobs in this unit group require at least a bachelor’s degree. At least five years of experience in the field and/or vendor certification can be replaced by a formal qualification. In some cases, a formal qualification may not be enough. Experience and/or training on the job may be needed (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).

What do Database Administrators do?

Database administrators take care of and run the structures of databases. ICT units help people study data objects and how they relate to each other. The Database Administrator will make a computational model of how data objects connect to each other.

Task

  1. Creating and managing database infrastructure, data structures, tables, dictionaries, and naming standards to make sure that all master data files are complete and consistent.
  1. Operational setup and preventive maintenance of copies, recovery protocols, and implementation of confidentiality and reputation control
  1. Setting up and managing documentation, protocols, policies, and procedures for databases
  1. Test database systems and improvements, such as debugging, recording, replication, logging, and fixing all bugs found, using standard testing scripts, procedures, and processes.
  1. Responsible for system security and disaster recovery operations, protocols, and organizational control.
  1. Communicating with security vendors, manufacturers, equipment providers, and outside resources; reviewing, recommending, deploying, and managing information security applications; and keeping track of contractual commitments, performance, and service level agreements.
  1. Troubleshooting and providing service help to find, fix, and restore server hardware and software problems, including problems with workstations and networking networks.
  1. Making and managing documents, policies, and orders, and writing down and describing operating processes and system logs.
  1. Make sure that the architecture of computer sites requires all of the parts to work well together, and keep track of and change how well networks are doing;
  1. Keep looking at the current computer site to find out what future server and network needs might be and to make suggestions for how to move forward.

English Requirement

  1. IELTS score of minimum 6  (L, R, W), 7 in speaking and 7 overall;
  2. OET score with a minimum grade B in all sections;
  3. TOEFL iBT with a minimum score (L:12, R:13, W:21, S:23 and overall L93);
  4. PTE Academic with a minimum score of 50 (L, R, W), 65 in speaking and 65 overall.

Exceptions

  • In some states and territories, there are exceptions for Australian graduates.
  • In certain states/territories, Priority Skilled Lists may apply a particular requirement.
  • The United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, and Ireland shall be excluded from submitting IELTS or OET scores.

Where mandatory licensing or registration is required, you must demonstrate an English proficiency sufficient to meet the licensing/registration criteria or a minimum IELTS or equivalent level, whichever is higher.
